Workshop A: Learning TI-NspireTM CAS Basics
Description: This session is aimed at teachers who have limited experience with some or all of the 'applications' available in TI-Nspire CAS.
This session will cover;
-
- key features and basic navigation of TI-Nspire™ CAS.
-
- creating, saving, opening and using TI-Nspire™ CAS documents.
-
- simple numerical and algebraic computations in the 'Calulator' application.
-
- entering statistical data in the 'Lists and spreadsheet' application and using data to create statiscial plots/graphs in the 'Data and Statistics' application
Workshop B: Making the Most of Your TI-Navigator™
Description: Want to learn more about your school’s Navigator system? In this workshop we will be ‘flipping’ the classroom. Participants will be using Navigator, as a teacher. You will learn skills such as how to run a quick poll, track student learning through the screen capture tool and how to create assessment documents that will save you time! To get the most out of this workshop, participants are encouraged to bring their school’s Navigator system, access point with at least 5 wi-fi adapters. Calculators will be provided.
Note: If you have not yet set up your school’s Navigator system you will be invited to participate in an on-line getting started session prior to the LEC event.
Workshop C: VCE Units 1 & 2 General Mathematics: 2016 and Beyond
Description: This session will showcase ways in which TI-Nspire™ CAS can be used effecively to enhance the teaching, learning and assessment of VCE Units 1 & 2 General Mathematicas , with a particular focus placed on new content. As part of this hands-on session, participants will be offered tips and tricks to help get the most out of TI-Nspire™ CAS. Participants will leave with tasks and ideas for teaching that can be used in their classrooms.
Workshop D: VCE Units 1 & 2 Mathematical Methods: 2016 and Beyond
Description: This session will showcase ways in which TI-Nspire™ CAS can be used effecively to enhance the teaching, learning and assessment of VCE Units 1 & 2 Mathematical Methods, with a particular focus placed on new content. Workshop E: Levels 9, 10 & 10A of the Australian Curriculum/AusVELS: 2016 and Beyond
Description: This session will cover tasks that can be used to help develop conceptual understanding in the content strands, and problem-solving and reasoning skills in the proficiency strands, of the Australian Curriculum/AusVELS. Participants will come away from this session with tasks that can be used to enhance the study of geometry, statistics, number and algebra. In accordance with the proficiency strands, participants will engage in activities that involve looking for patterns and making and testing conjectures,. Participants will also experience how data collection can be used as a means of enhancing conceptual understanding.
