Workshop 1: Mathematical Methods Unit 2 (9am - 12pm) Partial Approval - Free

Participants will use various functionalities of TI-Nspire CAS, including some less familiar features, to explore key characteristics of functions and their graphs, as well as derivatives and antiderivatives. Some problems will be viewed through multiple representations and solved in different ways. In particular, participants will set up a document that uses Newton’s method (graphically and in a spreadsheet), to find approximations to the roots of cubic functions, and compare the results with other solution methods.

Workshop 2: Mathematical Methods Unit 4 (12.45pm - 3.45pm) Partial Approval - Free

Featured content will include efficient use of TI-Nspire CAS to solve problems related to applications of calculus, and discrete and continuous probability distributions. Participants will also explore statistical inference for sample proportions and confidence intervals by setting up and analysing simulations for random sampling. Showcased activities will include tasks similar to sample Unit 4 SACs from the ‘Advice for Teachers’, and will illustrate ways in which TI-Nspire CAS can support Problem-solving or modelling tasks, providing participants with skills that they can apply to their own SACs.
