Workshop A:      Learning TI-NspireTM  CAS Basics

Description: This session is aimed at teachers who have limited experience with some or all of the 'applications' available in TI-Nspire CAS. Presenters: Frank Moya & Roger Wander.  This session will cover;

  •   - key features and basic navigation of TI-Nspire CAS.

  •   - creating, saving, opening and using TI-Nspire CAS documents.

  •   - simple numerical and algebraic computations in the 'Calulator' application.

  •   - entering statistical data in the 'Lists and spreadsheet' application and using data to create statiscial plots/graphs in the 'Data and Statistics' application

 

Workshop B:      VCE Units 1 & 2 General Mathematics: 2016 and Beyond

Description: This session will showcase ways in which TI-Nspire™ CAS can be used effecively to enhance the teaching, learning and assessment of VCE Units 1 & 2 General Mathematics, with a particular focus placed on new content. As part of this hands-on session, participants will be offered tips and tricks to help get the most out of TI-Nspire™ CAS. Participants will leave with tasks and ideas for teaching that can be used in their classrooms. Presenter: Frank Moya.

 

Workshop C:     VCE Units 1 & 2 Mathematical Methods: 2016 and Beyond  

Description: This session will showcase ways in which TI-Nspire™ CAS can be used effecively to enhance the teaching, learning and assessment of VCE Units 1 & 2 Mathematical Methods, with a particular focus placed on new content. As part of this hands-on session, participants will be offered tips and tricks to help get the most out of TI-Nspire™ CAS. Participants will leave with tasks and ideas for teaching that can be used in their classrooms. Presenter: Roger Wander.

 

Workshop D:    Levels 9, 10 & 10A of the Australian Curriculum/AusVELS: 2016 and Beyond 

Description: This session will cover tasks that can be used to help develop conceptual understanding in the content strands, and problem-solving and reasoning skills in the proficiency strands, of the Australian Curriculum/AusVELS. Participants will come away from this session with tasks that can be used to enhance the study of geometry, statistics, number and algebra. In accordance with the proficiency strands, participants will engage in activities that involve looking for patterns and making and testing conjectures,. Participants will also experience how data collection can be used as a means of enhancing conceptual understanding.  Presenter: Roger Wander.

 

Workshop E:    VCE Units 1 & 4 Specialist Mathematics: 2016 and Beyond   

Description: This session will showcase ways in which TI-Nspire™ CAS can be used effecively to enhance the teaching, learning and assessment of VCE Units 1 – 4 Specialist Mathematics, with a particular focus placed on new content. As part of this hands-on session, participants will be offered tips and tricks to help get the most out of TI-Nspire™ CAS. Participants will leave with tasks and ideas for teaching that can be used in their classrooms. Presenter: Frank Moya.

 

Workshop F:    VCE Units 3 & 4 Further Mathematics: 2016 and Beyond
