The Half day Opening Closets workshop will:

  • Increase awareness and knowledge of the unique needs of LGBTI people
  • Explore the key concepts and models for understanding deiverse sexualities, sex and gender
  • Develop worker confidence and knowledge about diverse sex and gender, particularly transgender mental health
  • Improve understanding of AOD use within LGBTI populations
  • Improve understanding of the mental health impacts of homophobia and isolation for LGBTI people
  • Outline 'best practice' standards for improving inclusive service provision
  • Assist organisations and workers to promote their service as an LGBTI friendly environment for staff and clients

The training includes:

  • Tailored workshop (4 hours - including afternoon tea break)
  • Follow up session (1 hour - several weeks after the training) to address specific questions/scenarios)
  • Experienced facilitators
  • Resource kits
