This exciting 1-day course will start with the basics of emulsions then move to practical aspects of emulsion formulation and manufacturing.  It will then move to defining foundation characteristics and identifying the types of pigments and fillers.  A detailed discussion of wetting, dispersion, and suspension will take place followed by descriptions of how to integrate pigments into emulsions and the challenges that manufacturing liquid foundation emulsions bring.

 

 

 

 

About the Instructors 

 

Jane Hollenberghas over forty years’ experience in the cosmetic industry, working with fillers, pigments, and pigmented products at Coty, Revlon, and Rona. Since 1996, she has operated JCH Consulting to provide services in the formulation, scale up, and troubleshooting of pigmented cosmetics. She has taught in the education programs of the SCC, FDU, and CFPA and serves as a member of the Personal Care Product Council's Color Additive Committee.     Development of color cosmetic products based on silicone technology and research in surface treatments for fillers and pigments are areas of ongoing interest for Jane, resulting in a number of patents. She has authored chapters in several textbooks and is working on one devoted to practical color cosmetic formulation.

 

 

Mark Chandleris the President of ACT Solutions Corp. www.ACTSolutionsCorp.com, a formulation consulting firm focusing on Adaptive Aesthetic Design™, Advanced Emulsion Solutions, and Formulating for Efficacy™.  He is also a Research Instructor at the University of Toledo – College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.  Mark has more than 30 years in the personal care and pharmaceutical industry, most recently serving as Skin Care Applications Manager for Croda, Inc.  For more than 15 years Mark has taught the Cosmetic Formulation, Cosmetic Raw Materials, Practical Basics and Theory, Low Energy Emulsification, Sunscreen Technology, and Liquid Foundation Emulsion Technology for the SCC.  Mark has presented in more than a dozen countries located in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia, and has written numerous technical articles and textbooks chapters and has 3 patents.
