Mankind’s use of fragrance has a long history and is pervasive in our lives, from wildly expensive perfumes to laundry detergent. The fragrance industry deals with, among other things, creativity, science, regulatory constraints, marketing, and the emotional sense of smell. A fragrance company employs master perfumers, experts in chemical synthesis, applications chemists, and many more specialists, all of whom are necessary to create a successful product. This presentation will touch upon all these subjects and provide a guide to those who wish to pursue specific aspects more deeply.
