This is the sixth year that we offer this amazing course, this year combining students and staff, at a shighly ubsidised rate. In this 8-week programme (2.5 h per week for seven weeks, plus one full day retreat) you will be introduced to the foundational concepts and practices of mindfulness and other contemplative practices. You wil lhave the support and guidance of experiences practitioners to establish your own regular practice and to experience first-hand what such practices may contribute to your own learning, working and living.

Mindfulness increases moment-to-moment awareness and can help you to respond more creatively and appropriately to whatever comes your way in your work, studies, relationships and life in general. It can make you more conscious of your own physical, mental and emotional states and responses and therefore fosters knowledge of self, relationships and world. Mindfulness can improve the quality of life and transform the way you think and feel about your experience of day to day living. It cultivates a compasionate and holistic  approach to living. The various benefits of the practices are well documented in the research literature.

You will also have the opportunity to learn about some of the research on mindfulness and contemplative practices, for example in relation to neuro-plasticity, compassion and stress-reduction. Limited places.

Booking will be confirmed with a contribution of £60 (students) /£85 (staff) towards the cost of this course.
