Join the online food magazine that explores the whole city for a unique and fun tour of the food cultures of the south side.
We’ll meet at old time Bridgeport Bakery, 2907 S. Archer, for bacon buns and paczki. Then we’ll travel by air-conditioned bus to taste Chinese street food, Chicago’s unique African-American BBQ style, Mexican street food in Little Village and more. Between destinations we'll talk about the evolution of the South Side and its food scene, including video clips from "Sky Full of Bacon" about historic dining spots, before returning to the Bridgeport Bakery area.
The tour, which includes tastings at every stop, will be approximately 4 hours and be led personally by Fooditor editor-publisher Michael Gebert. Besides plenty of tasty things to eat, everyone will receive a copy of Fooditor’s guide to Chicago food, The Fooditor 99 ($6.99 value). Space is limited to keep it an intimate tour so don’t delay—buy your tickets now.
NOTE: This tour is built around the items offered by these traditional businesses of different cultures. Nearly everything will contain meat and gluten, some will have nuts, and some will be at least somewhat spicy, so if you cannot eat those, the tour is not recommended for you.
