It gives us immense pleasure to announce the launch of the first Dalit Film Festival - a platform to celebrate Dalit arts and culture!

If a picture speaks a thousand words, then a movie indeed narrates an entire saga! Through their lens, our movie makers like Nagraj Manjule, Pa Ranjith, Neeraj Ghaywan and others have effectively showcased the Dalit reality around caste & gender discrimination, poverty and other poignant aspects.

Let us, as an international community, celebrate with them the emergence and excellence of our own genre of arts in general and movies in particular—the Dalit Cinema.

In this inaugural event organized in the world’s cultural and financial capital of New York City on the 23rd and 24th of Feb. 2019, we will be curating films related to Dalit life, history, and pride. It will also be an excellent opportunity for us to interact and discuss with our high-powered Dalit filmmakers and actors featuring Pa Ranjith, Nagraj Manjule, Neeraj Ghaywan and Niharika Singh.

We will continue to share more details and regular updates about this upcoming event. So please bookmark these dates in your calendar.

Please join this festival of movies, ideas, discussions and celebration of Dalit life and be part of the history!

Warmly,

Dalit Film Festival (DALIFF) Organizing Committee
