Most boot camps are designed to train and prepare their cadets to face the obstacles in their path. This one is no different. The Financial Boot Camp has identified three main skills to overcome certain common obstacles to help you achieve financial success: Discipline, Focus, and Strategy.

Discipline

Learn the importance of discipline and the role it plays in your physical and financial health.  Understand how Medicare can help you through healthcare related obstacles.

Focus

Setting goals and keeping sight of them is the proper foundation to any financial plan. With focus and determination you can tackle the obstacles that stand between you and your target.

Strategy

A financial plan may look good on paper, but without a good strategy, how will you make it happen?  A good strategy will increase your chances of financial success, and provide a secure path to follow along the way.

All City of Houston employees and retirees are invited to the Financial Retirement Educational Event (F.R.E.E.) to learn to utilize these important skills for Financial Planning. Several Boot Camp instructors will be on hand to train you for this mission including our Guest Speaker, Mayor Sylvester Turner, Andy Hardwick (Social Security), Gary Wilkins (Empower Retirement), and Steve Waas (HMEPS).

We will also have representatives onsite to answer questions you may have regarding your personal financial/retirement plan.
