FINANCE YOUR BUSINESS SUMMIT

SAN RAFAEL COMMUNITY CENTER JUNE 13, 5 - 8 pm.

How to Finance Your Business!

The Finance Your Business Summit is Marin’s largest, most comprehensive gathering of small-mid size business leaders and funders, designed to connect businesses with the right financing options at whatever stage they are at in their evolution, from start-up to maturity.

This summit will present speakers on both sides  — those who fund, and those who have gotten funding — together in the same conversation in order to create a richer experience with deeper dives which will include Q&A from the audience. A wide range of local funding leaders and information sources will be available to serve ventures in the idea and start up stages, such as founder’s funds (savings, lines of credit, credit cards), friends and family funding. For early stage and expansion stages, the summit covers loans, lines of credit, online lending, micro-lending and crowdfunding. For high growth ventures, we introduce angel investors, venture capital and IPOs and how to prepare and attract investors on attractive terms.

 The program schedule includes:

Expert panels of financing source experts and successful entrepreneurs experienced in a wide range of debt and equity options as they evolved their businesses.

Table sponsors covering a wide range of financing services and sources such as loans, lines of credit, community development financial institutions, micro and online lending, crowdfunding, community banks and credit unions, angel networks, venture capital.

Workshops on financing options for various stages of a business: idea and start-up, growth and expansion, stability and maturity. Workshops (based on the phases of a business and funding needs) will cover:

  • Financing 101: For neophytes new to business finance; what are the basics, the terms, the pros and cons of various options and what sources are right for your company.

  • Idea and start-up stage:  How to optimize and best use founders savings, credit cards, friends and family funds, guerrilla financing and bootstrapping your early stage company to meet cash flow needs.
  • Early Stage (post revenue-existing products in market: in addition to prior phase fund sources, add banks, credit unions, micro lenders, crowdsourcing platforms, incubators/accelerators, angels and VCs; what do they look for and how to negotiate and conduct business with them.
  • Expansion and Maturity: This is for businesses in market for several years, scaling product offerings, distribution and marketing. How do they best prepare, attract and close an equity funding round such as equity crowdfunding, angel investment or venture capital.
