While this professional development and continuing learning opportunity will appeal to all CAO’s Assistant CAO’s and Finance Officers, it will be of most benefit to those who are new to municipal government and those who wish to develop professionally and progress to new levels of responsibilities.
The boot camp is space limited to a maximum of 30. A second offering of this event will be scheduled again in later 2020.
The sessions will be interactive and intensive offering administrators an opportunity to keep current with best practices in both finance and administration. The small class size will allow more in-depth discussion and hands on learning. Topics will include:
· PUB rate study requirements with an example of simplified study submission
· Successful budgeting & strategies for setting mill rates
· Financial accounting processes and PSAB
· Financial reporting
· Administration best practices including bylaws and policies
· Administrative management of municipal elections
· Planning and subdivision processes
· Taxation and assessment
Meeting Facility – Officers Mess (Voyager Place)
Accommodations – Barker Suites (30 single rooms available)
Meals – Catered by Officers Mess (6 meals included – Wednesday (1), Thursday (3), Friday (2)
Schedule:
· Wednesday 1pm – 4pm session, 7pm – 9 pm session
· Thursday 9 am – 4 pm session, 7 pm – 9 pm team-building session
· Friday 9 am – 3 pm session
Other events: Wednesday evening council meeting skit, Thursday evening rock climbing at Central Plains Rec Plex on base
Includes 16 hours of instruction/learning and 2 hours of team building/ group recreation
