Class Description

Students will learn oil painting fundamentals using the nude figure as a model. There will be one continuous long pose ovver the course of 4 weeks. Canvas panels and basic oil paints will be provided for beginners.

Materials

Materials will be provided for beginners. Experienced oil painters should bring their own painting kits and paints. Canvas panels will be available for all students. 

About the Instructor 

James Werner has been teaching at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette for 20 years and working as a fine artist doing portrait commissions, murals, and gallery works. His work is created in a tradition of realistic representation and he teaches traditional methods rooted in classical realism, while encouraging students to pursue creative styles that interest them. James attended the Florence Academy of Fine Art in Florence, Italy and graduated from Purdue University with a Masters of Fine Art and a BFA from The Amaerican Academy of Art in Chicago.
