Hilton Head Airport HXD, 52 Gateway Circle, Hilton Head, SC, 29926, United States.

NOTE: This event is not only in high demand but very limited. Please be 100% sure that you can attend BEFORE registering. Due to the popularity of this tour and program airport requirements there are TWO tours scheduled this day. Double check that you are scheduling your elementary aged students to visit Hilton Head and your Middle/High School students to visit Savannah.

You are on the Hilton Head (Elementary) page. The link to the Savannah (Middle/High) tour is here: http://events.eventzilla.net/e/field-trip-airport-tour--savannah-middle--high-school-2138919835

PROGRAM: Elementary Group

Hilton Head Airport is a public use airport located in and owned by Beaufort County. Mostly used for general aviation, it is also served by a commercial airline and one public charter airline operating limited service. It is the only airport on Hilton Head Island. Hilton Head Airport opened in 1967 with the help of professional golfer Arnold Palmer. An avid pilot, he also became the first person to land at HXD. Today with one runway, there are approximately 89 aircraft based at this airport: 55 single-engine, 23 multi-engine, 8 jet, 2 helicopter and 1 ultralight. Elementary school children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend this tour to learn more about airport operations.

The group will meet on the General Aviation side of the airport. We hope to find exciting additions and special visitors there on this day!

LUNCH:

After the tour, we can picnic at Jarvis Creek Park.

COST & REGISTRATION:

This tour is complimentary but limited capacity. Please be sure that you can attend when registering because once you register, that spot becomes unavailable to another child.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation fees apply ($3) to this event as we will be turning people away due to the popularity of this wonderful opportunity!
