‘Feelings Matter’ Supporting Children’s Emotional Development‘What can I do when a child cries every time she doesn’t get her own way?’ ‘He gets so frustrated when he’s building something and it falls down’ How adults respond when a young child is experiencing strong emotions has a lasting impact as the child grows up. It is crucial to young children’s wellbeing that Early Years Practitioners know how to notice and listen to children’s feelings and that children learn how to express their feelings appropriately. In this workshop we will look at why emotion plays such a crucial role in the life of the young child and consider some strategies adults can use to enable young children to build their resilience and develop emotionally.
