In this core facilitation skills workshop, participants master the techniques and skills necessary to professionally structure, facilitate and build consensus within meetings, conferences, and multiparty decision-making groups. Effective group collaboration is a key 21st-century skill set. Learn and practice these skills from a well-known and highly effective instructor!

Instructor bios:

Tracey Cairnie, MS, PCC

Tracey Pilkerton Cairnie is a certified mediator/mentor, facilitator, coach, trainer, and public participation specialist. Tracey has over twenty years experience in developing and implementing a variety of communication and alternative dispute resolution programs, workshops and seminars. She provides services and training to a variety of government agencies (federal, state and local), businesses (profit and non-profit), universities, communities, families, and individuals.Tracey is also an adjunct-professor at George Mason University’s Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution teaching mediation, collaborative communication, and negotiation skills. She holds a MS in Conflict Analysis and Resolution and a BS in Public Administration from George Mason University. She is a graduate of the Georgetown University Executive Leadership Coaching Program.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation
A fee equal to 30% of the registration cost of the course will apply for any changes to registration (cancellation, re-scheduling) made less than 10 calendar days in advance. This fee is non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be applied to future classes.

Refund
Refunds may be processed in the following ways: credit to be used on a course of equal or lesser value within a year from being awarded or by check. Please allow 7-10 business days for processing.

No-show
Participants who register for the training but do not attend or cancel their registration less than 48 hours prior to the start of the training will be billed the full tuition cost of the training.

Northern Virginia Mediation Service is a community dispute resolution center in Fairfax, Virginia affiliated with the School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University and a member of the Virginia Association for Community Conflict Resolution. The mission of NVMS is to equip the Northern Virginia community to constructively address conflict by providing: 1) Mediation, facilitation, and restorative practice services to resolve disagreements, 2) Training to develop skilled practitioners who deliver mediation, facilitation, and restorative practice services, and 3) Education for community members about alternative approaches to addressing conflict.
