Session Description
In general terms, professional misconduct is unethical or unprofessional behaviour that falls short of the ethical or professional standards, guides or codes of conduct, accepted by a particular profession. .Professional "negligence" means an act or an omission in the carrying out of the work of a practitioner that constitutes a failure to maintain the standards that a reasonable and prudent
Professional misconduct also includes, "harassment" meaning the engagement in a course of vexatious comment or conduct that is known or ought reasonably to be known as unwelcome and that might reasonably be regarded as interfering in a professional relationship. In addition professional misconduct does include violating sexual boundaries, whereas the consequences for victims and the profession can be devastating.
Learning Objectives
The Participant will:
- Have a better understanding of what criteria is used for determining “professional misconduct”;
- Learn about the “legal” framework that protects clients/consumers from “professional misconduct” harm;
- Learn how to protect themselves from allegations of “professional misconduct”;
- Discuss the process of how professional misconduct allegations are typically investigated;
