Engaging with Disability and Creating Inclusive Spaces is a two-part workshop that focuses on topics most important to young people. Through hands on training, community organisations will gain a better understanding of how to communicate, engage and accommodate young people with disability. Key topics involve inclusive language, how to be an ally to the disability xommunity and how to effectively engage with young people with disability.
Delivered by YDAN - the Youth Disability Advocacy Network. This will be an online training for members of the LGBTIQ+ community. Organised by Living Proud as part of the Queer & Accessible Project.
The Youth Disability Advocacy Network (YDAN) is the peak advocacy organisation for young people with disability aged between 12 and 25 years. They engage with young people nd create spaces where young people can use their voices to advocate on matters that affect their lives.
YDAN is currently running a program called Access and Inclusion Matters where they create a space where young people can provide information and training for community organisations to increase their capacity to respond to the needs of young peoplw with disability through developing workshops, audits and resources.
