ALICE 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Originally from New Jersey, Alice Nkanga began her journey in dance about 10 years ago and moved to New York 3 years ago to study at St. John’s University. She started off with learning the art of step in high school and continued to learn new styles which led her to afrobeats dance. Alice is now apart of Queendom Empire, an afrobeats dance trio that focuses on using dance, along with their other passions, to hopefully make a great impact on their audiences, and to give viewers an opportunity to hopefully be inspired from something Queendom loves to share. From performing with artists from Bisa Kdei and Shatta Wale to Davido and Tiwa Savage, dancing has become a lifestyle, and an experience, that Alice Nkanga enjoys sharing with other dancers and she now encourages others to begin dancing, as well.

EJAY 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Ejay was born and raised in Nigeria. He started dancing at the age of ten, trained in traditional Nigerian dance styles and fell in love right away with dance. He was also part of the afrobeat street battle lifestyle back home in Nigeria and therefore has a good understanding of the origins of many afrobeat movements. He worked with and choreographed for artists like Korede Bello, young Paris , CDQ, ketchup, Niniola, et al.
He moved to NYC a year ago to train with top notch industry choreographers in various styles like street jazz, hip hop and jazz. These styles bear a little influence on his afrobeat style. His class style teaches a fusion of naija streetstyles and street Jazz

Dance classes will focus on Contemporary Afrobeats. These classes will have a focus and concentration in West African dance and music (particularly Ghana and Nigeria); however, as we have seen Afrobeats as a a genre radiates throughout Africa. There will be weekly dance classes, and the program will include master classes and occasional guest professional dancers and choreographers. Classes will involve learning technical skills and fundamental movement. The class focus will be on learning Afrobeats dance styles as we connect ourselves to the spirit of Africa, and the joy that comes from it. We will also develop and build core strength, stamina, rhythmic sensibility, and most importantly build community. Instagram: @AfrobeatsDanceBoston, Facebook: Afrobeats Dance Boston
