Ellis Creek Ponds, 3882 Cypress Dr., Petaluma , CA, 94954, United States.

Join expert guide Lisa Hug and Jack from Wild Birds Unlimited for a bird walk at Petaluma's Ellis Creek Ponds on Sunday, March 11 from 9-11:30 AM. These freshwater ponds are part of a water treatment facility and host a wide variety of ducks, waterbirds, and songbirds.

Participation is free, but space is limited. For more information on Ellis Creek, see the handy page at Colin Talcroft's Sonoma County Bird Watching Spots or check recent sightings on eBird. This month's guest leader is Lisa Hug, a Sonoma county bird expert and instructor for College of Marin's Birdwatching in Marin class; see her website to learn more about Lisa. If you have any questions about the walk, please contact us at wbumarin@gmail.com or (415) 893-0500.

Ellis Creek is located on the south side of Lakeville Highway, adjacent to another popular birding spot at Shollenberger Park. To reach the ponds from Marin, head north on Highway 101 to Lakeville Highway East. After one mile, turn right on South McDowell Blvd. Continue .5 miles and bear right on Cypress Dr. Cypress Dr. continues for .3 miles and then turns left, but continue straight at this corner to enter the water facility entrance road, with parking immediately forward along the roadside and additional parking and a restroom immediately around the corner. If this isn't clear, see the handy labelled aerial map on Sonoma County Bird Watching Spots. You can also use the following address for GPS directions: 3882 Cypress Dr, Petaluma, CA 94954.
