The Dubai Land Department was established by royal decree in 1960 by the late Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Over the last 60 years the DLD has evolved into a multi-disciplinary organisation set up to regulate and protect investor’s rights in Dubai. 2007 saw the establishment of the Real Estate Regulatory Agency or RERA as part of DLD. 2015 saw the start of the Building Classification Survey or BCS to regulate rental increases. 2019 saw the signing of the Common Areas Law by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed, Ruler of Dubai.
This talk will take you through the main roles of DLD and how engineering unpins the work of DLD and the various systems in place to protect investors.
