He is the editor of The Letters of Josiah Royce (University of Chicago Press, 1970) and author of The Life and Thought of Josiah Royce (University of Wisconsin Press, 1985; rev. ed., Vanderbilt University Press, 1999). He is also the author of several essays, including most recently “Was Royce Christian?” The Pluralist 13 (Fall 2018), 12-22.
