The Josiah Royce Society was established in 2003 to encourage the study of the life and work of American philosopher Josiah Royce (1855-1916).
John Clendenning, PhD., is Emeritus Professor of English at California State University, Northridge. He is the editor of The Letters of Josiah Royce (University of Chicago Press, 1970) and author of The Life and Thought of Josiah Royce (University of Wisconsin Press, 1985; rev. ed., Vanderbilt University Press, 1999). He is also the author of several essays, including most recently “Was Royce Christian?” The Pluralist 13 (Fall 2018), 12-22.
