Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in Higher Education during the Era of Racial Reckoning

10/25/21 from 7:30-8:30 pm ET

Patricia Morency, LCSW, M.Ed. will be facilitating an informal yet frank and interactive conversation on the growth edges higher education has in terms of what constitutes authentic and consistent DEI work, as well as how to navigate interdisciplinary practice when our social work values do not necessarily align with the interests of a college/university.

Patricia Morency, LCSW, M.Ed. is a Mental Health and Health Promotions professional from the dual degree MSW and Human Sexuality Studies programs, with experience in community mental health and higher education. She currently works at the University of Arkansas Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) as a Mental Health Clinician and DEI Coordinator. She also is an Adjunct Professor of Social Work at Laramie County Community College in Wyoming. She specializes in sexuality education; diversity, equity, and inclusion training; college counseling; and social media programming. She has worked in the Rural West, the South, and on the East Coast often with clients from diverse communities and low-income backgrounds. She grounds her practice in decolonizing therapy and incorporates intersectionality and queer and trans affirmative therapeutic modalities.
