Diversity and discrimination in the workplace Training

Understanding the Historical Impetus behind Diversity

Over the last 3,000 years, diversity and multiculturalism have had different meanings. Each period has seen a variety of implementation. If you look back at history, the most multi-cultural civilizations are the ones that last the longest. This is a trend that can be quickly observed in businesses. No business survives under the burden of religious and cultural discrimination. Employees are the lifeblood of any business. They must understand the significance of different cultures in an ever-changing and shrinking world. The basics of diversity and its historical impact, as well as other terms related to diversity, will be explained by our trainer.

Stereotypes and the Problems

Stereotypes are the mind's attempt at categorizing people and objects into specific classes. Inductive reasoning can be very helpful in generalizing events. However, if misused or not understood properly, it can cause problems with how we see cultures and the way we behave towards them. Even worse, these stereotypes can be detrimental to your relationships with others, your career, and your company.

Recognize Political Correctness

It is not enough to have good intentions in any society. While one might say they are helping someone, or that they want to be inclusive and multi-cultural, it is not enough to actually do so. We must also know the correct terms to use to communicate with others cultures. Our goal is not to believe that all people are equal but to demonstrate that belief. Our training course will help participants navigate between politically correct and inappropriate words, how to use them, and how to stop using them. Participants will be able address other cultures using careful word use by the end of this training.

How to deal with Discrimination in Certain Cases

Discrimination may occur in many ways and in multiple situations. It doesn't matter if it's an offensive gesture, a sexist term or a deliberate use of a term. We need to be able to quickly and decisively deal with these situations. Discrimination is rarely dealt with by simple reprimands, due to the complexity of culture. In other words, education is the best way to address discrimination at work. This course will discuss specific situations and how to navigate through them. It will also address rude behavior.

Learn the four cornerstones that make diversity possible

Our trainer will share with participants the four cornerstones that make up diversity. They are knowledge, acceptance and understanding. Because each of these four cornerstones are essential to a diverse mind, any sales professional will be able to communicate effectively across cultures and resolve any conflict among co-workers. These values are not only about personal growth and social skills, but also reflect a desire to be more inclusive. We will discuss diversity to improve ourselves and society as a whole.

As a management style, you must recognize diversity

As all political theories are based on a central value so is management style. This key value is diversity. To put it another way, just like we need to learn how to deal with other cultures, so must businesses learn how to embrace diversity at a top-down level. This can increase morale, happiness, and retention of multicultural employees.
