Friday, 16 August 2019 6:00 PM - Saturday, 17 August 2019 8:00 PM CST

The Discovering Grace Conference is a weekend teaching event with a focus on sharing the good news of God's amazing grace and demonstrating through biblical teaching that a life of freedom, joy, and rest is both available and God's intention for His children.

The Discovering Grace Conference will be held at First Missionary Baptist Church’s facility at the corner of Hwy 641 N and Riley Road in Benton, KY.

Dates for the Discovering Grace Conference will be August 16-17, 2019.  It will begin at 6:00 pm with doors opening at 5:00 for check-in and seating.  A tentative schedule is available at http://www.lifeonthehill.org/?page_id=1106.

Childcare is available on site through age 11.  You will have an opportunity to provide their names and ages during the pre-registration process.

A boxed lunch for Saturday will be available for purchase.  Selection of choices will be made during pre-registration.

Pre-registration is required to participate in childcare and purchase boxed lunches.

Last minute registration will be available at the door for conference attendance only.  However, pre-registration is recommended to reserve a seat.

Housing for out-of-town guests is available at The Hill at no charge.  A list of other accommodations can be made available at your request.

For those of you die-hard Romans Retreat fans wondering if Romans will be taught.  Absolutely! You can’t teach grace without opening the book of Romans.  The format will be subject based instead of expositional, though.  Some of the topics are: What is Grace, Identity 101, Jesus Plus Nothing, Law versus Grace, and more.

Our teaching staff for the weekend is uniquely gifted to speak on the topic of grace: Preston Gillham, Tim Chalas, and Patrick Johnson.  A short biography is included below for each speaker.

Preston Gillham

Preston is the author of four books, frequent speaker on and off The Hill, and a counselor by training.  He ran the ministry Lifetime Guarantee for over 30 years.  When not writing, he spends much of his time helping organizational leaders navigate change.  Preston is especially skilled at practically integrating spiritual formation with leadership principles.  He’s had the opportunity to help guide pastors and CEO’s, Executive Directors and Presidents, ministry staffs and executive leadership teams through this process.

Three of Preston’s four books, No Mercy, Battle for The Round Tower, and Grace in Ungracious Placesdeal specifically with grace.

Patrick Johnson

Patrick spent most of his childhood years in Calvert City, KY and accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of nine.  He was blessed to come into early contact with men of God who knew truth and were willing to disciple him along the way.  During his college years, he served as youth minister and worship leader at First Missionary Baptist Church in Benton, KY where the Lord further developed his gifts as a teacher.  After graduating with a degree in Finance from Murray State University, he moved with his wife, Angie, to Nashville, TN where they now live with their sons, Abbott and Emmett.  Patrick teaches as the Lord provides opportunity with the hope that He might use him to bring people to a deeper understanding of the truth of the gospel and inspire them to know His word for themselves (2 Timothy 2:2).  Patrick is a frequent speaker at The Hill and has taught Romans 1-8 for the past several Romans Retreats.

Tim Chalas

Tim is lead pastor at Grace Life Fellowship in Baton Rouge, LA.  A native of Houston, TX, Tim moved to Baton Rouge to attend LSU in 1988.  After graduation, he attended Torchbearers Bible School in Estes Park, CO.  Tim and Kathryn married in July of 1998, and he joined the Grace Life Staff in September of that same year.  They have three children: Caroline, Andrew, and Olivia.  Tim is passionate about sharing the truth of God’s grace and walking alongside others in their journey.

The Hill at BASIC Training

http://lifeonthehill.org

The Hill at BASIC Training is a Bible teaching, discipleship, and publishing ministry founded by Bob Warren. At The Hill, we encourage folks to develop an intimate relationship with Jesus—one where they cease working for Him and learn to rest in Him so that He can then work through them. Please contact us with any questions or thoughts you have! We'd love to hear from you!
