For those of you die-hard Romans Retreat fans wondering if Romans will be taught. Absolutely! You can’t teach grace without opening the book of Romans. The format will be subject based instead of expositional, though. Some of the topics are: What is Grace, Identity 101, Jesus Plus Nothing, Law versus Grace, and more.
Our teaching staff for the weekend is uniquely gifted to speak on the topic of grace: Preston Gillham, Tim Chalas, and Patrick Johnson. A short biography is included below for each speaker.
Preston Gillham
Preston is the author of four books, frequent speaker on and off The Hill, and a counselor by training. He ran the ministry Lifetime Guarantee for over 30 years. When not writing, he spends much of his time helping organizational leaders navigate change. Preston is especially skilled at practically integrating spiritual formation with leadership principles. He’s had the opportunity to help guide pastors and CEO’s, Executive Directors and Presidents, ministry staffs and executive leadership teams through this process.
Three of Preston’s four books, No Mercy, Battle for The Round Tower, and Grace in Ungracious Placesdeal specifically with grace.
Patrick Johnson
Patrick spent most of his childhood years in Calvert City, KY and accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of nine. He was blessed to come into early contact with men of God who knew truth and were willing to disciple him along the way. During his college years, he served as youth minister and worship leader at First Missionary Baptist Church in Benton, KY where the Lord further developed his gifts as a teacher. After graduating with a degree in Finance from Murray State University, he moved with his wife, Angie, to Nashville, TN where they now live with their sons, Abbott and Emmett. Patrick teaches as the Lord provides opportunity with the hope that He might use him to bring people to a deeper understanding of the truth of the gospel and inspire them to know His word for themselves (2 Timothy 2:2). Patrick is a frequent speaker at The Hill and has taught Romans 1-8 for the past several Romans Retreats.
