This two-week facilitated online course is intended for a broad audience including faculty, adjunct instructors and instructional designers who wish to learn how to design courses that go beyond lecture, memorization, “teaching to the test” and other forms of “information in and information out.” Instructors who have used principles of Integrated Course Design provided in this course in the design of their own courses report greater student engagement, more long-term significant learning and increased instructor satisfaction for courses delivered in online, “face-to-face” and “blended/hybrid” formats.

Cancellation policy Registration Cancellation by Optimize: Optimize reserves the right to cancel a course or event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the course or event non-viable. Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event or course, registrants will have the option to either receive a full refund or transfer registration to the same or a different course of the same type at a new, future date. Registration Cancellation by Participant: Cancellations received prior to the Close of Registration date are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations received after the Close of Registration date but before the first day of the course are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations or withdrawals from the course or event received after the course commences (start date of the course or event) are not eligible for a refund. The registered attendee, institution representative or credit card holder must make the refund request. Refund requests must include the name of the attendee, course, start date, contact information and institution (if applicable). Cancellations are accepted by e-mail (lindaj@optimizelearning.org) only. Refunds will be credited back to the original method of payment. Participants who do not successfully complete a course are encouraged to retake the course again at a time that better fits their schedule, but "credit" for previous partial completion is not available and participants will be required to pay the full registration fee for the new session. Optimize Learning offers online workshops and courses on a variety of topics related to academic teaching and learning to faculty, staff and administrators in both higher and secondary education. Its core course, "Designing Courses for Significant Learning Integrated Course Design," (authored by Dee Fink, formerly delivered by Dee Fink & Associates and now delivered by Optimize) focuses on a model of course design developed by L. Dee Fink, called "Integrated Course Design," a special way of designing courses that leads to greater student engagement and improved student learning in higher education. The conceptual framework for this and several additional courses is based on Fink’s book, “Creating Significant Learning Experiences.” (Jossey-Bass, Updated Edition, 2013)
