About the Seminar:

In this session, Doug will share his personal experience working with those living in the world of Dementia and Alzheimer's. He will share about his personal involvement with the residents of a care home, how he related and communicated with them, actively involving them in group sessions. It is our hope that the Important relational dynamics presented in this seminar can be applicable to all who have a relationship with someone living in the world of dementia.

About Doug Johnston:

For 21 years Rev. Johnston worked in a nursing capacity at the veterans Shaughnessy Hospital in Vancouver. Within that capacity he worked with many living with dementia. Doug went on to study for the Christian Ministry and completed his Master’s Degree in Family Ministry, following which he served churches in Brandon Manitoba and Calgary. For the past 5 years he served as Chaplain for the Bethany Care Society in Calgary where he pioneered group interactive sessions with the residents, as well as gave support to the friends and family visiting their loved ones.

The Carey Institute exists to resource the whole people of God to grow in their faith and be equipped for Christian ministry and mission through the hosting of workshops, seminars, and retreats. Come grow with us!
