For only the second time in the history of Delta Lambda Phi, we've made the difficult decision to host our annual Convention virtually. We all agree that meeting in-person makes for a far better Convention experience, but we are still committed to offering a variety of events to help our brotherhood reconnect with the fraternity as things continue to re-open and we gear up for fall recruitment and in-person events. We'll have a mix of business, social, educational, and celebrational events spread out from July 19-August 1 (most during the evening starting at 9PM EDT).
Delta Lambda Phi Social Fraternity hosts a Convention each year to handle the business of the Fraternity and provide the opportunity to reconnect with Brothers from all over the world.
Dr. Edith Guffey (pronouns she/her), MSW has worked for the United Church of Christ for more than 30 years. A former officer of the denomination, she now serves as the Conference Minister of the Kansas-Oklahoma Conference. In this role she provides support for 60 churches in the two states. A born Midwesterner, Edith knows the challenges of marginalized communities and understands the intersectionality of race and LGBTQI concerns. Over the years, she has been a voice in the faith community encouraging congregations and people of faith to practice hospitality and extend an extravagant welcome to LGBTQI persons. Edith is pleased that in 2017 the Kansas-Oklahoma Conference formalized this welcome by voting that persons of all sexual orientations, races, genders, and abilities are welcome, celebrated, and invited to participate fully in the life of the Conference. Edith sees this as critically important in Kansas and Oklahoma, where churches are often places of exclusion. Edith serves on the Board of Directors of national PFLAG, the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies. Prior to moving to serve in the United Church of Christ, Guffey worked in higher education at the University of Kansas. She moved to the UCC in 1991 as an elected officer of the denomination and served as Chief Operating Officer ending her work in the national UCC in 2011. Upon returning to Kansas from Cleveland, Guffey served on the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council in Douglas County, Kansas, and continues to serve on the task group focused on racial disparities in the criminal justice system. Guffey also serves as Vice-Chair of the Affordable Housing Advisory Board in Douglas County. She has extensive board administration and strategic leadership experience, experience in conflict mediation; facilitating conversations on race and white privilege; fundraising; and organizational development. Guffey holds a BA in Sociology from Baker University in Baldwin City, KS and an MSW from the University of Kansas. She is married to Jerry, has two adult children and lives in Lawrence, KS.

Stories are told for many reasons: to convey knowledge, to share history, and to make sense of the world around us. Stories are also an important means of establishing deeper, more authentic connections and relationships with the people in our lives. Throughout our time together, members will learn more about the importance of telling their own story. Time will be given to hear the experiences of others and for members to consider the ways in which we each share our own journeys. Join us in this experience of self-reflection and exploration, and take the opportunity to further consider how you share the various aspects of your own story and DLP journey.

Diversity and Inclusion Specialist
Roughly two out of every three Americans (66%) take at least one prescription drug over over-the-counter medication daily, making medications a necessary key to living normal and productive lives. However, unbeknownst to many, medications have the potential to cause abnormal or even life threatening complications when interacting with recreationally used substances, such as alcohol, marijuana, and others. With the rise in acceptability and legality of using recreational substances, as well as a high percentage of LGBTQIA+ people living with a substance abuse issue, this session is intended to provide brothers with information on how to take inventory of your personal health, navigate potentially dangerous situations and their consequences, and understand when it’s important to seek help.
