Defensive Shooting Skills: Movement and Cover

Instructors:

Cost: $60. A $10 deposit secures your spot. Remaining balance must be paid the morning of the class by cash only.
Our movement and Cover class is intended for shooters who want to improve their abilities and up their game when it comes to shooting on the move, and shooting from behind cover. Shooting on the move, and shooting from cover are concepts that a person must have an understanding of, if they are training for defensive or tactical shooting.

This 6-hour class is a “kit-up” class, and will challenge the student to improve their understanding and performance of these critical skills. This fast-paced class will start with a brief warm up on the fundamentals, and then proceed to “get things moving”. The student’s abilities with both the carbine and pistol will be pushed to the next level. Students should be prepared to perform under moderate to moderately-heavy physical exertion. Students will be shooting steel, so M855/SS109 “green tip” or other steel core/armor piercing ammunition will not be permitted in the class.
Students must have attended a firearms course from a reputable trainer, at above the basic level, or have relevant job experience (i.e., military/LE) in order to attend. Anyone attending who cannot perform the tasks safely will be dismissed from class.

Topics covered will include:
Range Safety Brief
Fundamentals review
Principles of movement
Forward, lateral, and rearward movement
Turning and shooting
Moving with the gun out
Principles of cover and concealment
Shooting from cover
Movement to and from cover
