Ofsted’s inspection framework still focuses on the core subjects as well as the breadth of the curriculum, and although Early Years is not a specific ‘deep dive’ in inspections it, but subject inspectors will be interested in diving into it. This is not just early reading and phonics but can be the pre skills involved in geography, design technology and science, for example.. This course will provide EYFS leaders and senior leaders with background information on the deep dive process as well as ideas and tools to use in school to audit and evaluate Early Years against the three I’s – intent, implementation and impact.
Now is the time to audit and evaluate Early Years provision in your school.
The course will:
-
Support leaders in their evaluation of the early years curriculum and teaching;
-
Develop leadership skills, coaching skills and examine the difficulties of leading a team;
-
Help leaders plan for a deep diveso they know their curriculum well and feel prepared to talk about strengths and areas for development with confidence.
The processes which underpin a deep dive can provide additional structure and rigour to your school's own monitoring and evaluation systems across the full range of subjects. This course provides ideas and question prompts for the deep dive process. Suggested sources of evidence; methods of enquiry and sources of evaluation criteria are also provided. The course material can be used by school leaders and subject leaders to complement existing processes, or to provide a structure against which to evaluate current practice. It will also help senior leaders and subject leaders become more familiar with the processes and questions typically used by inspectors.
