Hello interested Debs-to-be!
This is the RSVP page for our info session on Sunday, July 21, at 6:30pm. We will be meeting at the Headwaters Cafe, located off Kellogg Boulevard in the sotheastern corner of the River Centre (http://www.rivercentre.org/assets/doc/RiverCentre_StreetLevel-470ecd48f2.pdf).
Our goal with this Info Session is simply to answer questions you may have about how Debs functions, give you an idea of what practice will look like, and provide information about the required gear. You WILL NOT be allowed on skates at this time.
We are hoping to get a reasonable idea of the number of people who will be attending the Info Session, so please register if you are interested!
The timeline for Fall 2019 registration is as follows:
June 28 – active Debs can register for Fall Session
July 21 – Info Session for the Reserves List
July 27 – registration opens up to the Reserves List
August 25 (tentative) - first regular Sunday practice
September (TBD) - first Tuesday skills night
For some general information regarding Debs requirements and practice structure, read below:
COST BREAKDOWN: the costs for Fall Session is as follows (plus processing fees):
- Fall Session fee, Sundays (required) = $75
- Tuesday Skills fee (optional add-on) = $40
- WFTDA insurance (if needed): $40
PERSONAL INSURANCE: You must have up-to-date personal insurance (ex: Blue Cross, Medica, etc.).
GEAR: by August 25, you will need quad skates, helmet (dual certified/multi-impact), wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads, mouth guard.
SUNDAY PRACTICE SCHEDULE: barring any restrictions from not having space at either the Roy Wilkins, River Center Exhibit Halls A/B, or some off-site location (ex: Wooddale Fun Zone, Skateville, etc.), we intend to hold regular Sunday practices from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Sundays. The practice will look like this:
5:30 Skaters may start arriving
5:40 off-skates warm-up
5:50 gear up
6:00 on-skates warm-up
6:15 skills groups
7:55 Stretch, de-gear, announcements
**We want to emphasize timeliness and a sense of urgency throughout our practice. Please plan on being on time, or 15 minutes early. **
TUESDAY (optional add-on) PRACTICE SCHEDULE: we will also be offering 8 Tuesday skills nights (6:00-8:00pm, exact dates TBA) in addition to the regular practices; these are optional and NOT required to be a Deb. These practices are intended to give Debs the opportunity to spend a little extra time practicing skills learned during the regular Sunday practices. Skills practices will not include contact-based skills or a scrimmage portion, and are open to all Debs levels. Tuesday skills nights can be registered and paid for IN ADDITION TO the regular Sunday practices.
