The ability to work with, understand, and use data has become an essential life skill and requirement for an ever-expanding range of jobs and careers. Data is everywhere around us. Ninety percent of the world’s data has been created in the last two years. This fun and innovative class will meet face to face and includes asynchronous time for teachers of all grade levels and content areas to have students collect data on topics developed in class and represent it visually to be shared with a data pen pal class. Sign up with a colleague and plan togehter as data pen pals or sign individually and be paired with a data pen pal from the class. This class is based off the Dear Data project. To get a feel for the idea, check out their website. In this class, pen pal classes will complete 3 different data collection projects.
Dates: WEDNESDAYS, Jan 5, Feb 2, Mar 2, & Apr 6 from 1:00PM - 6:00PM + additional 7 hours of asynchronous time to be completed between sessions.
Credits: 15 hours recertification and 1.0 salary schedule credit
