Gain an understanding of the structure, roles, and tasks of the field practicum in

social work education relative to all participants. Understand the mission and structure of field education at

the Ohio University Social Work Department. Become informed of the roles of the field instructor, the field liaison, the field office, and the student and the responsibilities of each for a successful field program.Gain knowledge on the specific implementation of policies and procedures that govern field education.Explore the importance of the student-field instructor relationship to social work education and identify strategies to enhance the relationship. Examine the linkages between the competency-based field curriculum and supervised field activities as implemented through the learning plan and evaluation documents. Acquire the skills of preparing a learning plan and of implementing an evaluation process.

Discuss integration of the field practicum with course work in social work education.  Increase the self-

confidence of the participants in the field program toward achieving excellence in social work practice.
