This workshop session will provide a playful introduction to how creative writing can be both a pleasurable escape and a means of promoting resilience and self-care. We’ll use journal writing prompts and poetry to explore how putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) can be a way of relieving stress and making sense of challenging experiences.
The session takes its title from a poem by Michael Rosen published in These are the Hands, Poems from the Heart of the NHS, which we will read and write from. Please bring a pen and something to write on. No previous experience of writing required.
Anne Taylor is a writer, teacher and group facilitator who has experience of running workshops using writing for personal development and wellbeing with a range of partners including the mental health charity MIND and with patients, doctors and medical students.
