Photography is all about the quality of light, it defines form and texture, sets mood and can make or break the composition of a image.

Great portraiture captures much more than just a likeness of the subject, participants of this course will explore the techniques of photographing people by learning the basics of lighting with flash.

Learn from Aries and Jodie how to best shape flash, meter it, and use its unique properties to create amazing images that are simply not possible with any other light source.

This class will provide the knowledge and confidence required to use flash in the studio and on location. Flash is unquestionably the most useful artificial light source for photography but through lack of understanding and sometimes fear many photographers fail to use it to its full potential. Brilliant, instantaneous and with the colour and strength of the sun, flash makes possible many images that could not be captured any other way.

If you want to learn wedding and portrait photography and how to master flash, then this is the course for you.

During this workshop the following topics will be covered using our models. *Due to the variable nature of courses, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the attendees.
 
  • Creative lighting – Direct, Diffused and Reflected
  • Posing techniques for Weddings and Portraits
  • Controlling light intensity and contrast
  • When and how to use modifiers and reflectors
  • Effective use of backdrops and how to light them
  • Lighting for mood and effect
  • Creative techniques such as High Key and Low Key

Graduated with the doctorate degree from Macquarie University in 2009,  Aries Tao established  “CloverImage” wedding photography studio based in Sydney, which became the one of the most high-end Intimate Wedding and Pre-wedding Photography studio based in Australia.

Aries holds the title of:

• AIPP NSW Wedding Photographer of The Year - 2017 and 2018

• WPPI Master

• MPA Oversea Classical Wedding Photographer of the Years 2017 

• Asia Top20 Wedding Photographer of the Year - 2017 and 2018

Because of his contribution in wedding photography industry, he was invited as part of the judging panel in WPPI, ISPWP and AsiaWPA competition. He is also the current AIPP NSW State council member. He has recently invited as “Godox Ambassador Australia” and “Ambassador of SOM(Studio of Masters)”. With his success in the professional photography world, he was exclusively interviewed by SBS Radio, Portrait Magazine China, etc.

At this workshop Areies will share a few lighting setups to create his signature WOW images on location. These setups can be also used in portrait and fashion photography. During this workshop Aries will explore the Godox location flash series including AD200, AD400, AD600 and corresponding modifiers, he will show you his way of utilizing this gear in different lighting scenarios.

As a successful business women, with over 8 years experience in Newborn, Maternity & Family Photography, Jodie has won numerous awards, nationally and internationally.

Jodie holds the title of:

AIPP Australian Newborn Photographer of the Year 2017

AIPP NSW Newborn & Family Photographer of the Year 2018.

Jodie has her Associateship in Photography with both AIPP & WPPI and is expected to receive her AIPP Masters in Photography in 2018.

With majority of client sessions taking place in studio and no natural light available, It was imperative to know how to use studio lights to her advantage and be able to create variety in her clients galleries.

At this workshop, Jodie will be showing us how to create a variety of different images for maternity clients, many of which lighting setups can also be used for Newborn or Family posing. “Using Studio lights, has allowed me to create a consistent and efficent workflow for my clients, reducing my editing time significantly”.
