CPR/AED & First Aid

Designed for anyone in Childcare, Fitness, Construction, General Public, etc: this class is NOT designed for those in the Healthcare Field. The training will be provided by Life Rescue Training, trained professional EMT's, Paramedics, and Firefighters. Upon completion of the course, students will get a certification in CPR/AED & First Aid that is valid for 2 years.


Class Overview

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation):

• Knowledge and skill to administer effective CPR for an adult, child, and infant

• The basics of why we do CPR, the importance of scene safety when approaching a patient, what to say when activating the 911 system

AED (Automated External Defibrillator):

• The importance and need for an AED

• Knowledge of cardiac arrest, when and how to use an AED

• How to incorporate the use of the AED when performing CPR

FIRST AID: 

• Knowledge to take action at an emergency with rescuer safety in mind, while providing initial life-saving techniques

• Proper technique for relieving a blocked airway for the adult, child, and infant

• Assess and treat medical, environmental, and injury emergencies until professional help arrives

• Assess and treat medical emergencies: signs and symptoms of strokes and heart attack, breathing problems (asthma), allergic reaction (epi-pen), diabetics, and seizures

• Assess and treat injury emergencies: proper techniques of caring for internal and external bleeding, recognizing signs and symptoms of shock, understand and identify different types of burns, real-life practical splinting for bone, joint, and muscle injuries

• Assess and treat environmental emergencies: proper care bites and stings, heat and cold emergencies, and poisons
