IStructE Regional Group Committee with support of Department of Civil engineers at the American University in Dubai are inviting you to an online webinar by Prof. Hayder A. Rasheed, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, F. ACI, F.SEI Kansas State University.

The Webinar is about using FRP internal bar reinforcement for concrete beams.

The talk will start by introducing typical properties of commercially available FRP reinforcing bars. Following that, the design philosophy, which is different from steel-reinforced concrete, will be introduced. Failure modes and limiting conditions for strength and serviceability limit states will be examined. A complete design example will be illustrated highlighting the predominant limit states of design. A software package will also be briefly brought in perspective for engineers to follow up on. The discussion will be molded into the provisions of the ACI 440.1-15 guidelines. The Canadian Code CSA S806 provision will be compared and contrasted with the ACI approach.
