LOCATION: 

Canberra City - Fusion Photography office, 18 Garema place - upstairs between FSW shoes & Impact Comics.

 

PROGRAM:

9:00am - Meet and greet/introductions at studio. 

9:30am - Lecture on composition, part I - neuroscience and psychology of interpreting images, the CLUE system and thought process for constructing images.

11:00am - Photo shoot around civic - practice with creating images based on what was learned in first session.

12:00 - Lunch break.

1:00pm - Lecture on composition, part II - colour theory, line theory, art techiniques and visual communication.

2:30pm - Photo shoot around civic - further practice incorporating new theoretical elements.

3:30pm - Q&A plus feedback and critique of photos taken during the day.

5:00pm - Finish

 

CAMERA EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

Digital camera and manual with spare battery and memory cards.

Lenses - Focal length from wide angle to telephoto.

Optional: Tripod/filters

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • An understanding of what composition is, why its important and the many tools used in its construction.
  • An understanding of the basic psychology of how we respond to and interpret the visual medium.
  • The thought process behind pre-visualisation and constructing images as opposed to just taking snapshots. 
  • Increased visual awareness and understanding of aesthetics.
  • An improved ability to self assess, self critique and evaluate your own work

This workshop is not fully catered, though snacks will be available - attendees can bring their own lunch/drinks or purchase something from the many restaurants and cafes nearby.

Cancellations up to two weeks before the workshop are refundable, less a $50 administration fee.

Cancellations within two weeks are strictly non-refundable.  However money paid can be used as credit towards another Better Photo Workshops course to be used within six months of the original course date.

Better Photo Workshops reserves the right to vary or alter the content or schedule of the workshop as circumstances require (but not the theme or intended outcomes), or to cancel the workshop (for example if minimum numbers are not met). Cancellation of the workshop by Better Photo Workshops will result in a full refund.
