Recent Civility in the Workplace surveys have reported that 38 percent of workers believe the workplace is becoming more disrespectful, and that 67 percent believe there is a strong need for civility training. 90% of American workers say they have been victims of incivility at work, about 4 of 10 says they have worked for an abusive supervisor or employer. After being a victim of on-the-job rudeness and hostility, two-thirds of employees said their performance declined. Four out of five lost work time worrying about the unpleasant incident, while 63 percent wasted time avoiding the offender. More than three quarters of respondents said that their commitment to their employer had waned, and 12 percent even quit because of the bad treatment. Civility in the Workplace helps organizations and individuals develop a culture of shared trust and respect by understanding why civility is important, identifying what makes a behavior be perceived as civil or uncivil, and creating strategies, policies, and procedures  to prevent and deal with uncivil behavior.
