Program Objectives:
• Understand the history of autism spectrum disorder as a diagnosable condition and the revision of the DSM as it applies to ASD. • Understand the triad of impairments and common challenges associated with ASD as described by Lorna Wing and others. These are described as deficits in:
• Identify ways of supporting individuals on the autism spectrum and capitalizing on their strengths.• Identify strategies for effective communication and social interaction in different environments.
Tentative room assignment based on enrollment is Elson Hall 186. Registration and check in 8:15-8:30 a.m. All sessions begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end at 11:45 a.m.
