This year’s theme is Common Threads: Powering People, Purpose and Place. We are immensely proud to spotlight the emerging leaders and entrepreneurs Connect has supported to advocate effectively for high-quality schools, enriching afterschool programming, housing, job opportunities, and greenspace in the neighborhood. Join us to learn more about Connect’s resident-centered work in building healthy and prosperous lives for our newcomer neighbors in Houston.

Please keep an eye out for our emails leading up to the event for further details.  As always, thank you for your steadfast support!

Since 2016, Connect Community (“Connect”) has fought for human potential, working alongside residents and 85+ strategic partners to create the enabling conditions for Houston’s majority newcomer refugee and immigrant families, students, and entrepreneurs in the Gulfton and Sharpstown neighborhoods to build lives of promise. We and our founding partners, the YMCA of Greater Houston, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Legacy Community Health, and KIPP Houston Public Schools fundamentally believe that if we are to solve intergenerational poverty, we must build vibrant communities with residents and families at the center. Connect serves as the "community quarterback," overseeing and organizing our work through a four-pronged approach: building high-quality mixed-income housing, an effective cradle-through-career education pipeline, comprehensive wellness resources, and economic vitality.
