What’s this Data Classification Project I keep hearing about?

If you have ever asked yourself questions such as these:   I’m out sick and my performance reviews are due today – can I send them in by email?  Should I lock up copies of this draft accreditation report every night before I go home?  Do I have to shred each draft when I’m done with It?  Can I download a spreadsheet of students in my department onto my laptop?  I’m requesting FMLA, how do share medical information with HRM?

Then please join us for the next presentation in the Compliance Colloquium series to learn about the new data classification guidelines and a helpful tool that is now available online to provide answers to these and other questions that arise in our handling of university data and records.    We’re bringing in a panel of experts – Val Nestor form Data Administration, Tom Waldman from the Office of Information Security, and Tricia Wood, VP of Audit and Advisory Services – to tell you about the project, introduce you to the Guidelines and walk you through how to use the online tool.   Plus they’ll answer your questions about how best to make use of this resource with the data that you encounter and use in in the course of your job.
