Looking for practical tips and tools for preparing for life on college campus?  Want to make the most of this gift of education? Ready to tackle all the excitement of having a new roommate, new freedom, new responsibilities and new challenges?  This session is targeted to college students, especially incoming freshman, who want to maximize the investment of time and money in their college careers. You'll learn how to leverage your internal compass and authentic self, enabling you to navigate college life with greater confidence. We'll explore how to approach college consciously, taking into account your total well being, focusing on: mind, body, carer and social. Come ready to listen and take action!

About the presenters:

 

Kay Wigton McBrearty, Career Coach & founder of Waterville Partners, has hired, interviewed, mentored and coached both students and employees during her two decades in corporate leadership roles at Baxter Healthcare, including Director of Staffing and College Relations, and during the past decade as a career coach. She provides career coaching services for clients launching their careers or pivoting. She is a trained and engaging facilitator who drives clients to action.

 

Angela Thomas, APN, is a Family Nurse Practitioner, an Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse, and passionate about promoting healing, health and wellness.  She has been a Nurse Practitioner since 1998 and an RN since 1991, most of her experience has been in Emergency Medicine, always with a holistic focus. She has returned to Northshore University Health Systems in her APN role in Palliative Care. Additionally, she spent many years at Sage Medical Group providing care to students at DePaul University  She is a certified MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and Mindfulness teacher, providing this resilience building through the powerful practice. As a mother of 4, the eldest a rising Junior college and second heading to her freshman year, she brings both a personal and professional perspective to this program.

 

The Well North Shore is a meeting and event space for health, well-being, spirituality and career professionals to work and offer their services. It also allows individuals to tap into wellness resources and explore personal and professional growth opportunities in their local community. The Well builds awareness and brings together those of like mind and spirit to support and pursue their common passions, offering individuals and groups several different ways to meet, host and attend classes, and provide and receive services.
