COLLEGE PARK QUARTERLY MEETING INVITATION
2017 Spring, May 19 to 21
BEN LOMOND QUAKER CENTER
1000 Hubbard Gulch Road, Ben Lomond, CA 95005
An Invitation to the Dance: Learning more about & sharing the Quaker way
The winter tree Resembles me,
Whose sap lies in its root:
The spring draws near
As it, so I Shall bud, I hope, and shoot.
~ Thomas Ellwood, 1639-1714
Sing and rejoice,
you children of the day and of the light;
for the Lord is at work in this thick night of darkness that may be felt.
And truth flourishes as the rose,
and the lilies do grow among the thorns,
and the plants atop of the hills,
and upon them the lambs do skip and play.
And never heed the tempests nor the storms, floods nor rains,
for the seed Christ is over all, and reigns.
~ George Fox, 1624-1691
Our rains are nearly ended and new sprouts are unfurling in the sunshine. Wildflowers are blooming in our state in great numbers. The flowers I've encountered on my walks seem exuberant as well as numerous . Are we exuberant about our faith and practice? How are we sharing that enthusiasm with newcomers to our meetings? How do we share our faith and practice with the children of our meetings? How do we make the Quaker way apparent to persons unfamiliar with our practices?
At this Spring Quarterly Meeting we will...
- hear segments of our State of the Meeting reports
- participate in worship-sharing groups share (in workshop style) our lively approaches of conveying the Quaker way
- engage in Interest Groups on actions we may be led to take
- enjoy Quaker fellowship
Children, Teens, Friends and Attenders are welcomed for a weekend of fun, inspiration and worship
in our CPQM community at Ben Lomond Quaker Center.
