Wednesday, 20 September 2017 8:00 AM - 1:30 PM PST

Anaheim Downtown Community Center, 250 E. Center St., Anaheim, CA, 92805, United States.

The purpose of this exercise is to test Orange County’s ability to coordinate neighborhood response efforts among multiple agencies. This process may be used to provide education and conduct surveillance in the event of local transmission of a vector-borne disease. Participating agencies include the Orange County Health Care Agency (HCA), Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCVCD), and the City of Anaheim.

The exercise will take place in Anaheim on September 20, 2017 starting 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Downtown Anaheim Community Center on 250 E Center Street. On that day, you will be assigned your role and go through just-in-time training in order participate in field response activities.  Volunteer roles include going door-to-door with HCA and OCVCD staff to:

  • Interview residents about mosquito-borne diseases
  • Educate residents on mosquito-borne diseases
  • Assess properties for mosquitoes or breeding sources
