About This Class:
Join us for our first coffee painting workshop! Similar to watercolor, artists use coffee diluted with water at different ratios to create varying shades of rich brown. The class will be taught by LaDonna Vohar and Lorie Amick. Coffee to paint with and to drink (not in the same cup!) will be provided by Copper Moon Coffee. No experience is required so bring a coffee loving friend and come enjoy!
Materials:
All materials are provided and there will be coffee to drink while you paint!
About the Instructors:
Lorie Amick paints in oils, encaustic, and acrylic, but the main body of her work has been in watercolor. Her subjects are primarily still life and floral with a nod toward the nostalgic. Most often inspiration comes from objects that have been handed down from family members. The brings a deep emotional articulation to her canvases, which adds to the allure of her work. A full time painter, Lorie has been represented in regional and national juried exhibitions inlcuding National Watercolor Society, Heritage Arts Foundation, and Hooiser Salon.
LaDonna Vohar is originally from Paducah, Kentucky but has lived in Lafayette for many years. She loves to paint portraits, murals, furniture, and any subject that might interest her at any given moment. LaDonna loves all the mediums she works in, whether it's watercolor, pastel, acrylic, graphite, oils, or sculpture. When she is playing with an image, she is where she wants to be. You may have seen her work locally on billboards, murals, hogs, frogs, dogs, bears, and bisons! She has also received many awards over the years in a variety of art competitions.
