British Canoeing Coach Award Tutor and Assessor Orientation Event Programme

 

Daily Timings

·       Day 1 1000 start – 1800 finish

·       Day 2 0900 start – 1600 finish

Venue: British Canoeing Offices Nottingham

Staff: The programme is staffed by British Canoeing Coach Award Trainers Lee Pooley and Mike Devlin.

Preparation: Further precourse information, reading and some pre-course tasks will be circulated at least 2-weeks before the orientation event.You will need to allocate some time prior to the event to ensure you are able to complete this essential preparation.  

The emphasis of this two day orientation programme is to ensure that potential tutors and assessors understand what is required to deliver and assess the coach award programmes. From this you will be set up to start delivering and working through your action plans (where required).

The programme is classroom based and will not involve water-based activities. Here’s an overview of the content we will be covering:

The Coach Award qualification and pathway

British Canoeing Education Philosophy and the ethos of the Coach Award

The road to becoming a coach award tutor/assessor (inc. the process for those with an action plan)

Learning support material for Coach Award candidates and tutors/assessors

The Coach Award Core and Discipline Specific Training Course Programmes

Training programme content - exploring some of content and how it is covered:

·       How learner’s learn

·       Coach’s decision-making

·       Creating an optimum learning-environment

·       Structuring practice sessions

·       Reflective practice

 Support and individual consolidation for learners outside of the Coach Award face-to-face training

Coach Award Assessments

Venue choice and managing the environment – the ethos of coaching in a dynamic environment

Coach Award training and assessment course administration

Evening Meal
