Carol Spartano, M.S. in Special Education, has been in the field for over 37 years. For the past 35 years she has been happily employed at Jowonio School as a special education teacher and presently as a Clinical Support Teacher. Carol has developed a social skills curriculum for use across Jowonios' 10 classrooms and satellite programs.
Children who possess pro-social skills are shown to be more successful in school and are less likely to demonstrate inappropriate behaviors. This session will review general practices for teaching social skills in the classroom, as well as specific lesson ideas and examples. Video vignettes and hands-on materials will be used to illustrate this topic.
