BTI teaches the CMMI Institute’s official two day "CMMI Foundations of Capability" and single day "Building Service Excellence".
This course teaches the core concepts of the CMMI, including the CMMI’s vocabulary, practice areas, and a deep-dive into CMMI implementation details. We also supplement the course with additional material on the CMMI appraisal process and preparing for an appraisal. Completion of this course enables students to participate in a CMMI appraisal and further CMMI training courses.
Foundations of Capability
Foundations is the first in the introductory series of courses for CMMI V2.0 and is a pre-requisite for taking the CMMI Associate exam or for attending any of the Building Excellence courses. The course introduces the CMMI key concepts, architecture, and the 18 core practice areas. Through a mixture of exercises, lectures and class discussions, the Foundations of Capability course will teach you how to use the CMMI V2.0 Model and explain the business value that can be gained by improving your organization’s capability.
Building Service Excellence
This one-day course focuses on the Service domain and service context specific content within the CMMI and how to apply it to your own service processes. The Building Service Excellence course is the next course in the series that follows the pre-requisite Foundations of Capability course and introduces students to the practices within CMMI that cover service activities. These courses are intended for anyone interested in improving an organization’s capability to manage service activities and provide the prerequisite training necessary for qualified individuals to serve on a CMMI Appraisal Team for appraisals including Services. To take the course, each student is required to have successfully completed Foundations of Capability (or CMMI V2.0 Upgrade Training).
Following successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate of completion, and CMMI online Model Viewer access for 30 days.

- Prerequisite for the requirement for High Maturity Concepts.
